  • Wedding-Borders-Thompson

    Katie Stewart Borders, Bardstown, and Joseph Hubert Thompson, Simpsonville, were married 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11, 2010, at Bardstown United Methodist Church.
    The bride is the daughter of Gary and Emily Borders, Bardstown.
    The groom is the son of John and Kathy Thompson, Simpsonville.
    The Revs. Scott Stith and Bill Hammer officiated the ceremony.
    Music was performed by Sarah Cecil, soloist, and Janice Smotherman, pianist.
    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

  • Engagement-Barnes, Cundiff

    Sandra Lee Barnes and Douglas Ray Cundiff announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
    The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Charles and Norma Barnes, Bardstown. She is a 1983 graduate of Nelson County High School and is employed by Nazareth Campus Service.
    The groom-elect is the son of Bob and Sharon Cundiff, Cox’s Creek.  He is a 1985 graduate of Moore High School, Louisville, and is employed by St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
    The wedding is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 26 at Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Bardstown.

  • Akinses celebrate 60 years

    Harold and Ruby Akins, Bardstown, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 2. They were married March 2, 1951, in Anderson County at the home of the Rev. Don W. Kruschurtz.
    Mr. Akins is retired from the U.S. Post office. Mrs. Akins is retired from NuKote International. They are members of Bardstown United Methodist Church.
    They have two daughters, Jacque Keith, Westchester, Ohio, and the Rev. Harriett Akins-Banman, Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    Shigenobu and Misato Kasuya, Bardstown, announce the birth of a son, Rui Kasuya, March 1, 2011, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 21-1/4 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Hiroshi and Keiko Hasebe, Komaki, Japan. Paternal grandparents are Heizo and Michiko Kasuya, Kira, Japan.
    The baby was welcomed home by a sister, Nana Kasuya, 6.

    Ben and Jennifer Johnson, Lexington, announce the birth of a son, Landon Scott, Feb. 22, 2011, at St. Joseph East Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Kathy and Everett Hall and Calvin and Ellie Coulter. Paternal grandparents are Billy Johnson, Therese Johnson and Archie Faircloth.
    The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Nicholas.

    The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Christopher Grossman, 14, and a sister, Brook Kepfer, 11.

    The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Dalton, 10, and two sisters, Alexis, 7, and Jacie, 12.
