    Steve and Jeanie King, Bloomfield, announce the engagement of their daughter, Roma Jean King, to David Wayne Tyrie, son of Kenneth Tyrie, Princeton, and Diania Beuke, Dawson Springs.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Joe and Jane King, Bardstown, and Dick and Dona Mae Snider Molohon, Bloomfield, and the late Roy Snider. She is a 2007 graduate of Nelson County High School. She will be graduating from MSU in May 2011 with a bachelor of arts degree in theater and a minor in history.

  • Heads celebrate 40 years

    Donald and Minnie Osbourne Head, New Haven, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary March 13.
    They were married at St. Rose Catholic Church, Springfield. They are the owners of Head Basement Walls Inc., New Haven.
    They have three sons, Jeffrey Head, Jamie Head, both of Bardstown, and Eric Head, New Haven; and eight grandchildren.
    The couple celebrated their anniversary among family and friends with a surprise party given by their children and wives at their residence March 19.

  • Parrishes celebrate 50 years

    Donald and Dorothy Chambers Parrish, Boston, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 31. They were married March 31, 1961 at Youngers Creek Baptist Church with Brother Jack Peak officiating.
    Mrs. Parrish is a housewife and Mr. Parrish is retired from the transportation department. They are members of Youngers Creek Baptist Church, Elizabethtown.
    They have four children De-De Napper, Cox’s Creek, Dean Parrish and Darin Parrish, both of Boston, and Deric Parrish, Elizabethtown, 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

    April Travis and Curt Standiford, Bardstown, announce the birth of a son, Trenten Grant Standiford, March 13, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. He weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and was 18-1/2 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Donald and Beth Howell, Cox’s Creek. Paternal grandparents are Gary and Lee Standiford, Bardstown. Great-grandparents are Shirley and Robert Houk, Louisville, and Barbara Hume, Mount Washington.

    Adam and Teri McCollum, Cox’s Creek, announce the birth of a daughter, Addison Leigh, March 15, 2011, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds, and was 19 inches long.
    Maternal grandmother is Betty Nelson, Cox’s Creek. Paternal grandparents are Pam McCollum, Hickman, and Charles and Beverly McCollum, Dresden,Tenn. Great-grandparents are Valoise Denny, Milan, Tenn.
    The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Logan, 7.
