  • Engagement: Cecil, Kays

    Jamie Cecil and Carrye Janes, both of Bardstown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashton Nicole Cecil, to Joshua Terry Kays, son of Terry and Dana Kays, both of Bardstown.

    The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of Nelson County High School. She is employed by Hair Gallery in Bardstown.

    The groom-elect is a 2010 graduate of Nelson County High School. He is employed by Estes Express Lines in Louisville.

    The wedding is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4, at Bluegrass Entertainment and Exposition Complex in Bardstown.

  • Birth: Smith

    Elizabeth Jordan Roby and Tyler Wayne Smith, of Bardstown, announce the birth of a daughter, Emersyn Elizabeth Smith, Aug. 5, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.

    She weighed 8 pounds and was 21 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Brock and Lisa Roby

    Paternal grandparents are Judi Smith and the late Phil Smith.

    Great-grandparents are Wanda and Harvey Hayden, Juanita Roby, Richard Roby and Dawson Ray Smith.

    The baby was welcomed home by a sister, Lamia Vei Smith.

  • Downs earns Eagle Scout

    Lucas Ray Downs has earned the highest advancement award Boys Scouts of America offers, the Eagle Scout award.  Downs was recognized in a ceremony Aug. 31 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Cox’s Creek.

    A member of Old Kentucky Home Troop 721, Downs is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank.  Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle.

    Erica Nicole Chapman and David Lee Taylor, of Bardstown, announce the birth of a son, Sawyer Joseph Taylor. Hs was born Aug. 16 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He weight 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Dana Eads, Sharon Edmondson and Rick Taylor.

    Sawyer was also welcomed by two brothers, Gavin, 9, and Logan, 2.

  • BIRTH: Riley

    Andy and Tonya Riley, of Bardstown, announce the birth of identical twin sons, Damien Wayne and Jacob Trae Riley. They were born Aug. 9 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. They each weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces, and were 18.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Larry and Dina Lambdin and Bobby and Patty Riley. Damien and Jacob were also welcomed by a brother, Travis, 3, and a sister, Maddie, 6.

  • BIRTH: Mahoney

    Micah Mahoney, 5, of New Haven, announces the birth of a sister, Sophie Noel Mahoney. She was born June 16 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 19 inches long.

    Parents are Stephanie and Michael Mahoney, of New Haven.

    Grandparents are Tina and Kenny McWaters, of Buffalo and Louisville and June and Jerry Mahoney, of New Haven.

    Sophie was also welcomed by a sister, Bailey, 24.
