  • Trzop completes Legion College

    Dr. Peter Trzop recently completed the American Legion College program at the national headquarters of the American Legion in Indianapolis. 

    Trzop was one of 56 Legionnaires selected from more than 2.4 million members in the American Legion to attend the weeklong training and education program.

    Bardstown officer involved in wreck

    A Bardstown police officer was involved in a minor injury accident Wednesday night. Officer Glen Wheatley was responding to a call to assist another officer around 8 p.m. when he was involved in an accident near the entrance to Wal-Mart at North Third Street.

    Bardstown Police Chief Charles Marksbury and investigating officer Nelson County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstructionist K.C. Holbert said Wheatley had his lights on when he tried to turn north on North Third Street.

    Tiffany R. and Jeremy R. Fortune, of New Hope, announce the birth of a daughter, Maci, Nov. 19, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Scott and Jody Maynard, of New Haven. Paternal grandparents are Lorri and Marian Adams, of Bardstown, and Chuck Fortune, of Upton. Great-grandparents are Martha and Wayne Shuffitt, of Lebanon Junction, and Cora and Chester Spencer, of Boston.

    The baby was welcomed home by two brothers, Hunter, 3, and Waylon, 1.

    Brandi and John Daniels, of Cox’s Creek, announce the birth of a daughter, Ellie Mae, Nov. 20, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Mona and John Anderson, of Cox’s Creek. Paternal grandfather is John Daniels, of Cox’s Creek.

    Great-grandfather is William Daniels, of Ashland.

    The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Willie Jack, 3.

    Alexis and Amber Alcantara, of Springfield, announce the birth of a son, Alexis Crisoforo, Nov. 21, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Ojuna Hill and Jeff Sagracy, both of Springfield.

    Paternal grandparents are Crisoforo Alcantara and Esmeralda Mendez, both of Mexico City. Great-grandmother is Ruby Sagracy, of Springfield.

    The baby was welcomed home by two sisters, Jennafer Sagracy, 5, and Emelia Saucedo, 3.

    Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Hahn, of Bloomfield, announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Suzanne Hahn, to Joseph Barry Jury, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jury, of Cox’s Creek.

    The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of Bardstown High School and a 2013 summa cum laude graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood development. She is currently a teaching fellow at the University of Kentucky, pursuing a master of science degree in child and family counseling.

    Sullivan University in Louisville has accepted Jabari Jones, of Bardstown High School, for admission to the University beginning in the 2014 academic year.

    Aliyah Rushell Henry and Jesse Tyler Nethery, of Bardstown, announce the birth of a son, Jesse Landon Alexander Nethery, Nov. 13, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Christi Henry, of Radcliff and Russell Henry, of Vine Grove.

    Paternal grandmother is Dianne Nethery, of Bardstown.

    Jared and Jere Ingram, of Cox’s Creek, announce the birth of a daughter, Ellie Mae, Nov. 13, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Harold and Martha Hawkins, of Bloomfield.

    Paternal grandparents are Jackie and Don Davis, of Cox’s Creek, and the late Doug Ingram.

    Great-grandmother is Ann Jackson, of Cox’s Creek.

    The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Trey Scott, 3, and a sister, Violet Ann, 1.
