    Anthony and Laurinda Sidebottom, of New Haven, announce the marriage of their daughter, Laura Sidebottom, to Chad Ballard, son of Gary and Mary Ballard, of Bardstown.

    They were married at 6 p.m. May 10, 2014, at Stone Creek Farm in Bardstown.

    Brother Mike Fenwick officiated the ceremony.

    The wedding was peacock themed with burlap and lace decorations and the colors were purple and teal.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Anthony Sidebottom.

    Douglas and Theresa Bard, of Bardstown, announce the marriage of their daughter, Lacey A. Bard to Henry R. Kersting, son of Elizabeth Solomon, of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Michael Kersting, of Marsfield, Ga.

    They were married at 6 p.m. April 17, 2014, at Captains Quarters in Prospect.

    Capt. Todd Kerger officiated the ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Douglas R. Bard.

    BHS class of 1979

    The Bardstown High School Class of 1979 will have a 35th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Bernheim. The class will gather at the Art Barn near the Bernheim Education Center noon-4 p.m. All non-Bernheim members will have to pay the $5 admission fee into Bernheim. Everyone is asked to bring a dish and family members. All former classmates and teachers are invited to attend. For more information, call (270) 307-4023.

  • Old Kentucky Home Post donates to causes

    American Legion Post 121, Old Kentucky Home Chapter, recently donated $2,050 to the Operation Comfort Warriors, which works through the VA hospital to help veterans with needed items the VA does not cover. The funds were raised from the management and patrons of Kroger, Dollar General Market and Peebles on the July 4th weekend. Hobbs Baptist Church also made a significant donation.   • Engage-Sullivan-Hurst

    Becca and Dennis Hardin, of New Haven, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kirsti Leigh Sullivan, to Anthony Patrick Hurst II, son of Tony and Connie Hurst, of Cox’s Creek.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Roger Dale Sullivan. She is a 2004 graduate of Nelson County High School. She is employed as an office manager for Kentucky Foot and Ankle Specialists in Elizabethtown.

    The groom-elect is a 2003 graduate of Nelson County High School. He is employed by American Fuji Seal of Bardstown.

  • United Way donates to Senior Center

    A check for $7,000 was recently presented to to Crystal Maupin and Bob Pyles at the Nelson County Senior Center for in house meals, also providing $5,000 for meals to be delivered to homebound from the United Way of Nelson County.

  • Engagement: Taylor, Lewis

    Mike and Karen Taylor of Bardstown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Marie Taylor, to Jarrod Scott Lewis, son of Scottie Lewis, of Cox’s Creek, and Angie Lewis, of Frankfort.

    The bride is a 2009 graduate of Nelson County High School and is currently enrolled at Elizabethtown Community & Technical College and is employed by Wendy’s in Bardstown.

    The groom is a 2009 graduate of Nelson County High School. He is employed by Toyota Boshoku America in Bardstown.

  • Military

    MILITARY. Navy Seaman Recruit Dakota C. Poynter, son of Darnell C. Poynter, of Bardstown, and Sheryl Scheper of Jackson, Mo., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

    During the eight-week program, Poynter completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
