  • The Dinner Diva: Planning for success

    By Leanne Ely CNC

    The Dinner Diva

You know that old saying “Failure to plan is planning to fail?” This old adage holds true in our businesses, our homes, and every aspect of our lives. Flying by the seat of your pants only leads to stress, mistakes, and often costs you more time and money than you want.

  • The Fly Lady: It’s a small world thanks to the Internet

    The Flylady

In the last 15 years our lives have changed with the availability of the Internet. I will never forget the first thing I ever searched for on the internet. I was taking some classes at Brevard College. I was using a search engine called DogPile; this was before Google!

  • The most precious gift to give yourself

    THE FLYLADY

All of our lives we have spent putting out fires. These fires were started by our perfectionism and our procrastination. Along with panic of these fires come the squeals of martyrdom and yells of dissatisfaction. We have all done this and it is our family who have had listen to it.

In a world where the list is king, doesn’t it make sense to know what not to eat in addition to what you should eat?

That’s how I look at it and you know how much I love a good list! The foods you should never eat are deserving of their own list too, don’t you think? But I’ve done one better on this particular list. While I’ve named the culprit in disturbing your peace (health and weight), I’ve also named the hero in restoring your well-being (big applause now).

Do you feel like the whole world is crashing in on top of you? Believe it or not it happens to all of us from time to time! Especially during the Holiday Season.

When we get busy, we feel that we don’t have time to do even the simplest of routines. So what do we do! We let our HOT SPOTS take over our homes!

Dirty dining reports are becoming quite popular with local news stations all around the country and are grossing out America at the same time. I’m sure you’ve seen it before; local reporters go into the kitchens of restaurants to see what health code violations they can find. I’ll spare you the gory details, but it’s usually one more reason I prefer to cook my meals at home.

  • Fat, sugar, salt — the triple threat

LEANNE ELY CNC, THE DINNER DIVA

Fat, sugar and salt; the triple threat found in fast food, restaurant food, packaged food, frozen food, and even some foods we prepare ourselves. Our taste buds are so accustomed to the taste and feel of this combo, that we forget what real food is supposed to taste like. So with the New Year hovering just around the corner, how about some retraining of the old taste buds? Sounds good? Great!

Here are a few key points to get you started.

  • Protect your family during holidays

    MARLA CILLEY, THE FLYLADY

The holiday season is a very stressful time of year for all of us. When we allow this stress to take over our lives, we put our families in danger. A fire at any time of year is like a death in a family. We have to protect our families. We all pride ourselves in being safe, but I want you to look hard at some of our holiday habits.

  • Prepared for a winter storm

    By MARLA CILLEY
    THE FLYLADY

Why do we let unexpected problems with weather, electricity, and other little things, throw our routines in the trash?

I can tell you, it is not a perfect world. One little thing out of whack throws a monkey wrench into our plan. Winter is almost here; with this season, comes snow, school closings, ice storms and power outages. Are you prepared with plan B?
