  • Pedal to the metal

Are you always at full throttle? I know that I lived this way for many years. The main reason I was always rushing was that I felt like I was behind and playing catch-up. This was a vicious cycle that was perpetuated by staying up too late just so I could get one more thing done.

When you don’t get enough sleep you have no energy. This lack of sleep causes you to be irritable. When your unpleasant mood reaches that level it is best to just go take a nap before you say things that you wish you had not said.

I have been going through Broccoli Block. You know, when you forget to turn on the veggies and you have your dinner ready to go but the veggies are sitting on the stovetop, cold, raw and just waiting for someone to turn them on and get them cooked?

    Why is that?

By LEANNE ELY CNC, THE DINNER DIVA

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day but it is something many of us skip. If at all possible breakfast is another meal opportunity that can be enjoyed at the table if you plan ahead. Meal planning goes far beyond just dinner, it should include breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Being well prepared will save you money in many ways, first on groceries, then years later on doctor bills.

Comfort foods. Two words that bring an array of incredibly tempting and terrible treats to mind, especially before, during, and after a certain holiday that boasts of red and pink and way too many heart-shaped tchotchkes. These meals, hosted by our friend “comfort,” are usually full of flavor and deliciousness that you’d rather not live without.

  • Are you in a juggling act?

    By MARLA CILLEY, THE FLYLADY

All of us have a scared little kid living inside of us. We like to think of ourselves as being all grown up; after all our age and our bodies are matured. Somewhere along the way we have felt like we were losing control and we have worked hard at taking control of every area of our lives; only to feel even more out of control.

  • Crazy for casseroles

By LEANNE ELY CNC, THE DINNER DIVA

OK, truth be told, I’m not really that crazy for the traditional casseroles. Most of them are full of salt, fat, the wrong kinds of carbs, and lots of cheese. They almost always look the same no matter what you've thrown in there and they taste about the same as well.

There is hope! Casseroles don't have to be cheesy, crumbly, calorie, carb busters. They can have lots of different flavors, textures, and colors. Here are some tips to making more out of your favorite casserole dishes.

Food may play a bigger role than just making you grumpy if you’re hungry. Sometimes just the smell of a turkey roasting can trigger childhood memories of Thanksgiving or the smell of homemade bread might bring a picture of your grandmother to mind. But did you know the foods you crave could be directly related to how you’re feeling?

Recent research shows what many of us knew all along: Our moods dictate what we eat. Here’s a few examples. Do any of these sound familiar to you?

Have you lost your get-up and go and you don’t know where it got up and went? Many of us have this problem. The answer may surprise you.

You are dehydrated. Yes you heard me. You are not drinking enough water. I did not say liquids, I said water.
