  • 'Get Smart' Missed it by that much, Chief!

Thankfully, the dead spots in “Get Smart” are somewhat erased with intense laughter in other scenes. This is when this film gets closer to the iconic, satiric TV series from several decades ago.

Some memos will be marked [Unpreviewed]. This means that I have not seen the film. Any information about the film content is taken from press releases, Web sites and other sources. The “Family Rating” is mainly taken from the Web site filmratings.com.

  • "The Incredible Hulk"- A not-so-jolly green giant

The opening credits pretty much expect moviegoers to know how Bruce Banner becomes the Hulk. Snippets of the relationship between Bruce and Betty and the experiment gone wrong are shown behind those credits. Additional flashbacks do fill in more details, but by that time we are well into the military plot against Bruce and his verdant alter ego. It’s amazing that the armed forces have time to fight real wars when they spend so much time trying to cover up botched experiments against various superheroes.

  • Kung Fu Fighting with Po Panda

“Belief is stronger than help” so says the wise Master Shifu to the bumbling Panda in the new animated film “Kung Fu Panda.” This is an amusing, witty, visually stimulating story which will engage all members of the family. The adults laughed at appropriate times, and the children talked to the screen telling various characters what they should be doing and answering questions before the characters could do so. Cool!

  • 'Sex and the City' - It's all about forgiveness, love, and you-know-what!

You do not need to have seen the TV series to appreciate what happens in “Sex and the City.” Its story lines and visuals were considered somewhat shocking even on HBO. The story of four liberated women making their way in New York found sisters in metropolitan areas and the hinterlands alike. What is not told here is how these four women have gotten where they are, but what they are going to do now.

  • 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' Is it worth the wait?

Whimsy, nostalgia, adventure, Harrison Ford, and John Williams’ music. What more could you ask of a movie? Maybe a little more plot, but who’s quibbling? “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is one long adventure in the style of those Saturday afternoon movie serials which Steven Spielberg and George Lucas so admire.
