A Bardstown woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision with a tree on Louisville Road.

Lois H. Glascoe, 67, of Bardstown, was driving a black 2005 Cadillac Escalade south on Louisville Road when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle and struck a sign around 1 p.m., according to a police report.

Glascoe, who was wearing a seat belt, continued through the yard of a house at 4825 Louisville Road and collided head-on with a tree near the corner of Francis Drive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Bardstown Nelson County Volunteer Fire Department was also called to the scene.

According to Fire Chief Marlin Howard, extraction equipment had to be used to remove Glascoe from the vehicle.

Glascoe was the only occupant of the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved.

Alcohol was not a factor, according to a police report.
