A Bardstown woman is facing several charges, including wanton endangerment of a police officer, after she fled from an attempted traffic stop Saturday.

According to a Bardstown Police Department citation filed Tuesday, officers attempted to stop Katherine Elizabeth Rogers, 26, after the woman allegedly sped down North Third Street and began passing cars in the center lane. Rogers failed to stop for officers and continued fleeing, turning onto East Broadway, Bloomfield Pike and Stephen Foster Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The chase continued with Rogers leading police through a series of turns on Bloomfield Road, Stephen Foster Avenue and several side streets.

Rogers then reportedly made her way to South Fourth Street, nearly striking two pedestrians, and then onto Gilkey Run where she lost control of the vehicle in the turn and struck a metal sign post.

Rogers exited the vehicle as officers arrived at the crash scene and a K9 pulled her to the ground.

Rogers was taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries where she was cited with a court date. Rogers has not yet been placed under arrest.

Rogers faces charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police, several counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and wanton endangerment of a police officer, reckless driving and disregarding stop signs.
