On June 23, Mount Washington Police entered a pursuit of a stolen vehicle driven by William K. Casey, 28, of Shepherdsville.

The pursuit began in Bullitt County heading down I-65 but crossed over into Nelson County along Deatsville Road, ending after the vehicle crashed into a shallow gulch in a cow pasture.

Casey and passenger Alex M. Allen, 26, also of Shepherdsville, were apprehended and taken into custody.

Officer Todd Sweeny, with Mount Washington PD, said he was familiar with Casey, who had allegedly run from him on at least two prior occasions.

Nelson County Sheriff’s Deputies Ramon Pineiroa and Jerry Hardin joined the chase once it entered on Deatsville Road and Casey reportedly tried to hit Hardin’s vehicle, according to arrest records.

Upon suspecting the stolen vehicle, officers reportedly recovered meth, components to manufacture meth, and additional stolen items.

Casey was indicted Aug. 19 on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police office, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Allen was also indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail for Casey was set at $25,000 cash plus conditions and bail for Allen at $5,000 cash plus conditions. Both are set to be arraigned in court Sept. 3.

Casey has a lengthy criminal history including being found guilty of second-degree fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest in Nelson County in 2011, various drug-related charges in Nelson, Spencer and Bullitt Counties and is listed as having a fugitive status in both Spencer and Bullitt Counties.
