A tractor-trailer carrying coils of steel overturned on the Blue Grass Parkway early Tuesday morning.

The driver, Davis L. Norton, 52, Georgetown, was flown by helicopter to University of Kentucky Hospital with unknown injuries. He was released from UK at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The accident occurred about 1 a.m. near the 38-mile marker, close to the Nelson-Washington county border, according to a press release from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies arriving on scene discovered the 2006 Freightliner turned over in the median. The westbound lanes of the Blue Grass Parkway were shut down for removal of the vehicle and steel.

Damage to the tractor-trailer was severe, but Norton was wearing a seat belt, the press release states.
