STRAIGHT ARROW: Hunting during the Thanksgiving holidays

-A A +A

Straight Arrow

By Gene Culver

During the holidays I had time to bowhunt some, and Eric took Hannah out for several trips to the deer woods with her rifle.

On Thanksgiving morning, when I left the truck with a star-filled sky overhead, the temperature was 20 degrees. After a half-mile hike and a 20-foot climb up to my stand, I rigged my safety harness and settled down to wait for daylight. I’d planned to stay put until about 10 a.m. when I would get down, head home, and Bonnie and I would go to her sister’s for her family’s Thanksgiving get-together.
