Local school officials are applauding a No Child Left Behind waiver extended to Kentucky along with nine other states last Thursday.
It was the first time waivers had been granted to the federal law, which sets benchmarks for school districts’ improvement, particularly regarding test scores, with the goal that every child in the country earns a “proficient” score in reading and math by 2014.
