RINGSIDE SEAT: Ortiz quits; cites broken jaw for loss

Victor Ortiz (29-3-2. 22 KOs) was stopped at the end of nine rounds by longshot Josesito Lopez (29-4, 17 Kos) last Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Ortiz, who maintained control throughout the whole contest, claimed that Lopez broke his jaw with a left hook in the ninth round and upon returning to his corner, decided that he could not continue. Official scorecards had Ortiz ahead 86-85, 87-84 and 88-83. FNPP had it 88-83 for Ortiz.
