24-hour Bible reading at Bloomfield UMC

24-hour Bible reading

Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 126 Taylorsville Road in Bloomfield, will be sponsoring a 24-hour Bible reading beginning at 6 p.m. Sept. 5 and lasting until 6 p.m. Sept. 6. The public is encouraged to attend and participate by signing up for a 15 minutes slot. There are 96 slots available and anyone is encouraged to participate. Call Jana Shehan at (502) 252-5178 to sign up. Speaking will take place under a tent, so the event will be held rain or shine. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and Bibles.

Lay Mission volunteer program

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth’s Lay Mission Volunteer Program invites volunteers to join them Nov. 3-16 as they lead a mission trip to work with the sisters and children at Asha Kiran in Dharuhera, India. Asha Kiran is a school operated by the SCNs for young girls who are orphaned, or who have been taken out of brothels and other hostile environments. Asha Kiran attempts to break this cycle, by offering the children a safe environment, an opportunity for learning and a chance to believe in their own worth and dignity. If you are interested in joining the group, contact Felicia Rowe at felicia@scnfamily.org or (502) 348-1583 for more details.
