The driver of a vehicle that ran off Old Bloomfield Road, hitting a tree and a fence, about 9:10 a.m. Thursday was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital.
Amanda Cissell, 25, Bardstown, was driving a 1991 Honda Accord traveling south on slick roads when it ran off the northward side of the road near Irish Ridge Road.
Cissell suffered a leg injury and was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital by Nelson County EMS. A passenger, Abby Day, 22, Bloomfield, was taken to Flaget by private vehicle, complaining of head and face pain, according to a Nelson County Sheriff’s Department press release.
The Bardstown-Nelson County Fire Department was also on scene but did not need to extricate anyone from the car, even though the driver’s side showed heavy damage.
“The passenger was able to get out and by the time we got here, EMS had the driver slid over to the passenger (side),” Assistant Fire Chief Marlin Howard said. The front of the car was through a fence when the fire department arrived, he said.
After more than two days of rain and wet weather, Nelson County Sheriff’s Dep. Ramon Pineiroa said at the scene, “I think they lost control.”
Cissell and Day were wearing seat belts, the sheriff’s department release stated. Alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident.
