One person was injured after a vehicle veered off the Blue Grass Parkway around 8 a.m. Friday.

Claude G Williams, 28, Oak Grove, was driving west on the parkway when he nodded off, according to a Nelson County Sheriff’s Office report.

The 2000 Volvo V40 ran off into the median, according to the report. Williams woke up and swerved back onto the roadway when he overcorrected and reportedly tried to use his emergency brake to slow down.

The car veered to the right and ran into the ditch, up the embankment and then rolled over into the tree line, according to the report.

Williams’ passenger, Athemise Germon, 27, reported a back injury and was taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital.

Germon was reported to be in stable condition around 11:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Both were reportedly wearing seat belts.
