A woman died and two other people were injured in a two-car collision on Louisville Road (U.S. 31E) early Saturday afternoon.

Nelson County Coroner Field Houghlin identified the deceased victim as Brandy Terrell, 33, of Bardstown.

Both Terrell’s 9-year-old son, Jaden, and the woman driving the other vehicle, Cynthia Crouch, 47, were taken to Norton Hospital in Louisville with serious injuries, according to Kentucky State Police.

Houghlin said Saturday afternoon that he did not know the child’s condition.

Crouch was listed in serious condition as of late Saturday.

Lt. Kaelen Matthews of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that a black Volkswagen Jetta was going north on Louisville Road and stopped to turn left into Greer Estates on Heritage Drive. Terrell’s car, a white Nissan Sentra, went around it in a no-passing zone and collided with Crouch’s blue Dodge Caliber, which was coming south in the opposite lane.

Crouch, Terrell and the child were taken by ambulance to Flaget Memorial Hospital, and both Crouch and the child were later flown by helicopter to Louisville, according to Nick Pennick, a firefighter who was at the scene of the accident.

Houghlin, who went to the hospital rather than the crash site, said Terrell either died at the scene or en route to the hospital. An autopsy, he said, would be done to determine the cause and time of death.
