Man indicted for stealing car from Conway Heaton

A Mount Washington man with a record has been indicted in Nelson County on felony charges related to the theft of a vehicle.

According to the indictment filed Wednesday in Nelson Circuit Court, Anthony Ray White, 48, is accused of taking a 2014 black Ford Mustang GT belonging to the Conway Heaton Automotive Center on Feb. 4.

White was also indicted as a first-degree persistent felony offender. According to the indictment, he has previously been convicted of car theft, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, second-degree escape, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, first-degree wanton endangerment, theft of a vehicle decal and first-degree burglary in various counties between 1993 and 2009.

White’s bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions. He will be arraigned in court April 6.

White was not the only person indicted Wednesday on charges related to vehicle theft. Dana J. Stahley, 29, of Bardstown, and William Ray Sanders Jr., 30, of Louisville, were each indicted on a complicity charge of receiving stolen property related to a different car theft.

According to the indictments, the pair are accused of receiving, retaining or disposing of a 2005 Chevrolet Impala belonging to another person on or about Dec. 16, 2016.

Bail was set at $5,000 cash, with arraignment set for April 6.

Sanders was also indicted as a second-degree persistent felony offender, having previously been convicted of third-degree burglary in Nelson County.
