Man indicted on October rape, sodomy charges

A 37-year-old man was indicted Wednesday, on rape and sodomy charges following an arrest last month.

According the indictment, Owen Lee “Petie” Maddox, of New Haven, engaged in sexual intercourse with an adult female who was “incapable of consent because she was physically helpless.” The act reportedly occurred in Bardstown on Oct. 6. At the time of his arrest, police believed drugs and alcohol were involved.
An investigation was opened Oct. 8, according to a press release from the Bardstown Police Department.

Maddox was arrested Oct. 12 and charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

Maddox is a first-degree persistent felony offender, having previously been convicted of first-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree complicity to trafficking in controlled substances, and first-degree trafficking in controlled substances.

Maddox was on parole at the time of the offense for burglary and fleeing charges from 2012, according the Kentucky Online Offender Lookup.
