Man convicted of double murder will get re-trial

-A A +A
By Frank Johnson

More than nine years after he was convicted of murdering two men in Nelson County, John T. Hilbert could be going back on trial in January of next year.

After being sentenced to life in prison in 2001, Hilbert appealed his conviction and the case worked its way up to the Kentucky Supreme Court. According to Nelson County Commonwealth Attorney Terry Geoghegan, the court ruled in 2005 that the jury in Hilbert’s original trial was not instructed properly and the case must be re-tried.
