A trivia night Friday at the American Legion Post 121 raised nearly $3,000 to support funding for a film about Fire Base Tomahawk and the Charlie Battery unit attacked in Vietnam. Several local men, including Mike Simpson, were involved in the unit.

Simpson's grandson, Gilly Simpson III, a Louisville high school senior, has been working to raise money to fund a short film. The short could later be used to promote funding for a full-length feature.

The Simpsons have teamed up with filmmaker John A. Coulter, who is currently working on production of the Civil War drama "The Private."

Ashley Glass, a star of the "The Private," was on hand Friday to speak about current and future film efforts.

Several have donated to the project over the past few months.
