Kentucky State Police, responding to a call of juveniles attempting to break into vehicles, also found several marijuana plants and a stolen barrel of bourbon.

Around midnight Monday, Kentucky State Police Post 4 received a disturbance call in regard to several juveniles attempting to break into a vehicle on Airview Drive in Elizabethtown.  When troopers arrived they were told by witnesses that several juveniles ran into a residence at 266 Airview Drive.

They were also informed of a whiskey barrel that was in the back of the residence and appeared to be stolen.

After attempting to make contact at the residents, officers also noticed a marijuana plant on the windowsill of the home, according to KSP Post 4 Spokesman Trooper Jeff Gregory.

At that time, the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force was called and a search warrant was prepared and executed.

In total, seven marijuana plants and a whiskey barrel stolen from Jim Beam Brands Co. was recovered. The 53-gallon barrel still had about 40 gallons of bourbon in it, Gregory said.

“I’m sure when it was stolen, it was full,” Gregory said.

Gregory said Jim Beam was not aware the barrel had been stolen.

The juveniles involved were later released to their parents.
