A local man has been charged with possessing child sexual exploitation (CSE) material after Kentucky State Police launched an online investigation.
According to a KSP press release, the Electronic Crime Branch discovered Robert M. McIntosh, 45, of Bardstown, had been sharing images of child sexual exploitation online. An undercover investigation began in December 2016, resulting in the execution of a search warrant at McIntosh’s Jones Avenue home on Wednesday.
During the search, equipment believed to have been used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.
McIntosh was arrested at around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
A post arrest complaint completed by KSP indicates McIntosh uploaded over 200 files of CSE to personal electronic devices. KSP officials clarified McIntosh did not produce the content. He is currently charged with 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Each of the 20 counts is punishable by up to five years in prison.
The investigation is ongoing.
