Community supporting boy injured in crash

By Staff

Update: As of Thursday, morn that 600 shirts had been sold to supporters as far away as Pennsylvania.

Jaden Kennedy, a Foster Heights Elementary School fourth-grader and basketball player, was involved in a tragic car accident over the weekend. With Jaden hospitalized to recover from his injuries, his teammates, opponents and members of the community have gathered to show their support.

Young players from Foster Heights, Bloomfield, Bardstown and other areas have sported the number 42 on their jerseys in honor of Jaden, and have recognized him in other ways at their games through prayer and words of hope.

Athletic Director Matthew Reynolds called the community support for the young athlete “touching.”

In addition to keeping Jaden in their hearts at games, and many changing their social media pictures to one of Jaden’s team portraits, T-shirts with “Praying for Jaden” are being sold as well. More than 200 had been sold by Monday.
