The bridge over Davis Run Creek on Higdon Loop was closed Thursday.

The county has contracted with Galusha Contracting of Bowling Green to have the bridge demolished and replaced.

The county is replacing a one-lane bridge with a precast concrete bridge 24 feet wide and 36 feet long, County Engineer Brad Spalding said Friday.

The bid for the project was $143,643.36.

The engineer said the project had been planned for December but had to be delayed because of the weather. It’s now expected to take about 60 days to complete.

The road will be closed at this location — about a 10th of a mile south of New Haven Road — to all through traffic during the time of the project.

Spalding said Higdon is a loop off New Haven Road, and there are three houses on the Bardstown side whose residents will have to go the other way around.
