Girlfriend of suspect pleads guilty to stealing Ballard signs

The woman accused of stealing a sign supporting the Ballard family and the search for Crystal Rogers pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking Tuesday but avoided jail time.

Crystal Maupin did not appear in court, but her attorney, Jason Floyd, entered the plea on her behalf.

Maupin agreed to a plea of guilty in exchange for a 60-day jail sentence that was probated for two years providing she meet certain conditions including writing a letter of apology to Sherry Ballard, Rogers’ mother. She was also ordered to have no contact with Ballard.
