Update: Aug. 22, 2017 — The victim in Monday's fatal crash has been identified as 74-year-old Norma Lee Thompson. Thompson was traveling north on the new section of road that was closed for construction when she struck the driver's side of a vehicle driven by Kelly Holsclaw, who was traveling west on Louisville Road, according to an investigation from Kentucky State Police. The crash occurred where the old section and new section of road meet.

At least one person has died in a collision that occurred just before 1 p.m. Monday on Louisville Road near the Deatsville intersection.

Nelson County Sheriff's Office, EMS and fire were dispatched to the area on report of a possible head-on collision with entrapment.

No details have been released on the victim, others involved or how the crash occured at this time.

The roadway was closed during the accident.

Chris Jessie of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the crash occured on a new stretch of Hwy. 31 that was set to open Monday, but was not yet open at the time of the accident. Because of reconstruction by law enforcement, the road opening was delayed and it is expected to open mid day Tuesday.

The crash is the second deadly accident to occur on Nelson County roadways this week.
