Church donation scam hitting businesses

-A A +A
By Chris Mura

Church officials are warning of a donation scam affecting businesses in this area. Fr. Jason Harris reported to The Standard someone has been approaching local businesses claiming to be from St. Thomas Church and has been asking for donations for the upcoming picnic.

Harris said while there are some authorized people seeking donations, there are only a few with official letters (which are in color) from St. Thomas to do so. Harris asks that those who have been approached call the office at 502-348-3717 to verify the person’s identity.
