A New Haven man who has eluded officers for nearly a year was located last week in Jackson County.
John Curtis Stapleton (born 1988) was indicted last year on trafficking in controlled substance (methamphetamine), complicity; first-degree trafficking in controlled substance; possession of marijuana; and use or possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity.
According to court records, Stapleton, along with Lonnie Frye (1978) and Crystal Richards (1989), were charged after officers found drugs inside a River Road home.
Stapleton told police the items were not his. Stapleton was declared a fugitive on March 8, 2011, after he failed to show up for a court appointment.
Frye received a five-year suspended sentence last August in LaRue Circuit Court. He was credited for 91 days served.
Richards received a conditionally discharged sentence and two years unsupervised probation last September.
Stapleton was arraigned Monday in LaRue Circuit Court.
